Before you read this "About Us" page, we recommend going through and reading our product descriptions as a true means of getting to know us.
We do bits. (Definition: a usually short theatrical routine, a corny comedy bit.)
Fashion may be our specialty, but it is only second to our expertise on the usage of bits.
In all seriousness, we do love to have a good time and joke around, but most especially when it comes to what we're wearing because, let's be honest, sometimes figuring out what to wear every day really sucks.
That's why we decided to do this.
There have been countless times over the years of our friendship that one of us will get a text from the other with something like, "My pants are too tight. My shirt restricts areas that God never intended to be restricted. I'm uncomfortable. All I want to do is go home and change." To which the other understandingly responds with this meme:
Don't pretend like you don't know what we're talking about.
We were so tired of having a closet full of clothes that only worked if we lost 10 pounds, or could only be worn with an undershirt/slip and you know we're not about unnecessary layers. Honestly, HOW was it possible that we owned all these clothes, only to end up wearing the same shirt and jeans every day? We wanted to put our biscuits back in their rightful place (reference above meme) while still feeling comfortable and confident. So we decided to take matters into our own hands.
We tried to figure out what was flattering, what wasn't, and why. We made an oath to burn our chevron maxi skirts once and for all and become real women.
We did lots of research and tried to find flattering, comfortable pieces that made us feel confident, and wouldn't just be "trendy" for a season, but would support us through years of Target runs. In the words of Karl Lagerfeld (director of Chanel + Fendi), "Trendy is the last stage before tacky."
When we receive new product, we try on every item and perform TSA-level inspection of it to make sure it will be up to the standard we have set for ourselves.
As busy moms, we realized it became harder to find time for ourselves. Yet the less amount of effort we put into our appearance, the worse we felt. We discovered that once we put in some time for ourselves and wore clothing we felt good in, we were able to conquer the rest of the day without the unnecessary feelings of insecurity about our appearance. Because - come on, being a mom, wife, student, boss, - whatever it is you do - is stressful enough. You might as well look good doing it! Taking time for ourselves allowed us to stop constantly stressing over what we looked like because we finally felt confident.
Truly, we just want you to look and feel like the queen that you are. We want people to "see the dress but focus on the woman." -Vera Wang. And that's exactly it. What you wear doesn't define or label you, but should enhance the beauty you naturally have, and help you feel empowered.
We are so grateful for all the love and support we've received, and hope that Welles & Company not only leaves you asking for more bits, but gets you excited instead of stressed to get dressed every morning.
